Re: Skin Alligis,

Hiya my beautiful Benson has v bad skin - Folliculitus and Entropian which has now been operated on but the skin around his eyes still gets sore on occasion. He is now fed BARF and the improvement in his skin and general health is nothing short of amazing - he is on 1 tablet of Medrone in a morning and that's it - this is after months of large doses of steroids and courses of antibiotics. I also add Solgar supplement to his food and he gets sardines in olive oil or sunflower oil once a week.
Google BARF and have a look and see what you think - it may just be the answer you're looking for

Re: Skin Alligis,

Has your vet tested for sarcoptic mange? My eldest Bichon started scratching at just four months old and he was diagnosed as having food allergies. This went on till he was nearly two years old and he was getting worse even the steroids had stopped working. In the end the vet did a blood test and ear scrape. He found nothing on the ear scrape but two weeks later the receptionist phoned me and said he had tested positive for sarcoptes. He had to have a few doses of stronghold on the back of his neck and a few weeks later he stopped scratching completely.

Wafcol Salmon and potato is a good hypoallergenic food for allergies.

Re: Skin Alligis,

Has your vet tested for any form of malabsorbtion problem? One of my two has a terrible itch at times, and it's down to a gastric pancreatic condition rather than anything topical.

I feed a mix of James wellbeloved duck and rice and raw, it helps a lot... get your dog off any gluten, that tends to be a big trigger, and I believe hills is full of it.
