Daisy all better

Well after 4 days of being constipated and having a really hard time passing poo Daisy is finally ok .
I had to call our vets yesterday and ask thier advice i was told to get her some Lactulose a natural laxative , she had in total 6 tsp yesterday i had made her an appointment for this morning to get her checked out and took what little poo she had managed to squeeze out this morning with me to the vets .
The vet had to give her an internal and luckily she had managed to empty her back passage ,Although her bottom is now quite sore and may pass blood untill its better ive been advised to keep her diet light so not to make her strain again .
All this because we had let her chew on a bone for too long ,!!!!
The bone had compacted her poo so hard it was like bullets, Normally we would throw old bones away but as the weather had been so nice they had been allowed to have the bone abeit nothing left on it so they could have a chew (mistake ) As of now they can still have thier bones but we will be throwing them away when all meat ect is off it so they canot ingest too much ground bone , I have had no problems switching them over to raw feeding untill now and in hindsight will be more vidgillent with them having large bones to chew on .
Thanx to all who posted on this and to all who give bones , be carefull !!!or keep a bottle of Lactulose to hand lol.

Re: Daisy all better

Well you can imagine the guilt i felt espescially after i had told JO ( our vet ) only 2 weeks ago about our changing thier food , she warned about obstruction ect but never said anything about constipation , she gives her labs bone too so she couldnt tell me not to after , all i can say is thier are benefits and pit falls to this way of eating i guess its trial and error and learning by your what could have been a costly mistake.
