Best Dog Food

Unfortunately my 5 month old puppy doesnt seem to like dry food. So now I am mixing her dry food (James Wellbeloved) with some Butchers Puppy twice a day and the rest of the day just dry. She is eating a can a day, hopefully to wean her off from the wet food.

I'm pretty sure Butchers Puppy isnt the best food I can give her but Im also on a budget and dont want to spend silly amounts of wet food either as she will need around 7/8 cans a week.

Can anyone recommend a better wet food or anyone have any views on Butchers Puppy?

Thanks.

Talking Re: Best Dog Food

have you tried wetting her daily biscuits with either water or warm gravy?

my pup seems to woof down her food and choke sometimes, so i am now wetting it for her, goes down much easier!

Re: Best Dog Food

Natures Menu is quite good Natures Menu I give that to mine when I have needed to worm him or just a change when he starts turning his nose up at the dry!

Have you thought though about giving a really good complete food like James Wellbeloved, if you add boiling water and then cold to cool it down it makes its own gravey. My boy loves that, won't touch if its dry!

Re: Best Dog Food

Have you thought about a natural raw diet? It can work out cheaper than feeding dry or wet food and is an awful lot better for them.

Hi everyone and thanks for replying so quickly!

She is on James Wellbeloved now but I never thought about wetting it before .. hmm its something I will definately try!

I have also thought about the natural raw diet but I havent really looked into it much. I think I would always worry she wasnt getting enough vitamins etc although I know its better for them, its just what Id feel! LOL

I will try to make a light gravy tonight with her dry food and see how that goes.

Re: Best Dog Food

Ok just made it into a "gravy" of sorts! She took a longgg time eating it, but she ate it! I also added a few spoons of Butchers so she wouldnt be freaked out!

Shes obviously a meat lover though! Will try doing that for the next few days and see how we go. thanks for the advice.

Re: Best Dog Food

We had a dog who liked his dry food made with some gravy. I used to mix a very small amount of marmite with some warm water and pour it over his food. He loved it...LOL

Re: Best Dog Food

I would really recomend nature diet. It is a moist ffod that if 100% natural- no additives or junk. It is also a holistic diet. We noticed a great difference in our bc when we swapped him from bakers puppy ( not our choice - on that when we got him from breeder) to nature diet- much more relaxed.
it's a fantastic food- thats quite reasonably priced too.
I can't praise it enough.
Here is a link to the nature diet site for more info ( however it is cheaper to buy from pet stores rather than online)
