Re: Daisy is constipated ???

When we first put Milo onto raw he still wanted to go first thing every morning like he used to, problem was there was nothing there, with raw they go a lot less and as with Milo perhaps Daisy is trying before she needs to out of habit?

It could also be because of too much bone in the diet, are you feeding organ meat too yet? That should help soften things up for her.

Dog Health Questions - Dog Constipation Causes:
Dog Constipation is usually caused by eating bones or other indigestible matter. There are other, more fundamental causes of dog constipation particularly if associated with alternate bouts of diarrhoea.

Dog Health Information - Treatment of Dog Constipation:
1) The first aid type of treatment of canine constipation is liquid paraffin.
2) Natural Suppliment - Natural moves for pets, see link below:

Support Cat & Dog Digestive System Health, Healthy Bowels & Stools Naturally

hope this helps!

No its not a habbit thing she wants to keep going but cant , ive been giving them organ meat every other day its a 1 lb bag that i split between them mixed with the other meat either chicken and bone or turkey and bone so both get approx 1/2 lb of organ meat every other day and she has had either fruit or veg every day too , this is the first time either of them have had any probs we got no runs or constipation till now , they hav,nt had a new bone yet this week thy have still been gnawing the ones they have so maybe just too much bone chewing , poos are quite chalky , should i lay off them chewing for a day or too ?

yeah, give the bones a rest for a day or 2 and see how she gets on. if she still doesnt go to the toilet then i would look into the liquid paraffin or the natural suppliments, as im sure they will help her out!

Are they actually digesting alot of the bones or just chewing? Do you know what percentage of bone is in the main food you are feeding?

Maybe take the bones away for a few days if they are actually digesting a lot of them.

Chalky stools aren't a bad sign, Milo's often crumble as they hit the floor. Although it's healthy it's no good for picking up.

Re: Daisy is constipated ???

LOL i know about them crumbling , they will actually grind the bone to about half the origional size and eat it . the meat has about 40 % bone in i would say but its ground pretty small i dont feel loads of it in the meat when im mixing it up , so maybe i,ll not give them a bone till maybe friday and make sure they dont eat too much of it once they have cleaned the meat off it , I,l make sure she has plenty of veg pure tonight , I guess you cant give senacot ???
