my 8 month old northern inuit bitch came into season this morning, this is my first ever bitch so im new to all the season's, pregnancy etc. As she is still young n bouncy she still needs walking but is there a best time to be taking her out?

As long as she`s on a lead i cant see a problem with taking her out,maybe avoid places that are likely to have a lot of dogs in (parks etc)

Daisy is in season now too she started yesterday , Jessie our other lab was in season in january , while she is bleeding it is unlikely to consieve , when she has finished bleeding that is when she is most fertile and you,l need to be on your guard with other dogs , Bleeding can last anything from 5 - 14 days Jessie bled for 16 days . you will then count 7-10 days after bleeding to kep her safe , after this although unlikely to get preggie she may still smell attractive to a male dog for a further 7 days , we took Jessie out as we are with Daisy now but be on your guard and dont let her off lead once she has finished her bleed .

My eldest bitch is in season and she is only taken out just as its dropping dark and only on the lead - that way less people and dogs are about where we take them and keeping her on the lead is for her safety incase a male appears etc....
Do watch for males jumping in the garden and your girl jumping out too......
They can conceive at any time .....it all depends on each dog - I have known dogs catch on in the first few days and also known dogs who have over a week after bleeding has stopped so there is no rule of thumb with it

as long as you take her on the lead and keep her close... you can also get products like bitch pants and bitch spray from pet shops which all help prevent mating / or diguse smell....

she will probably want some exercise so i would take to a place where there are very few dogs around and i definately wouldn't let her off. Go by how you think she is- if she doesn't look like she is feeling up to it- just let her rest- poor girl.

Being in Season doesn't seem to have any effect on her what so ever bless her. Also she started her season on Monday and normally she has a play date with a few dog's 2morrow in the fields. Should i cancel this?

Yes cancel the play as she must be kept away from all dogs throughout the entire season as it is impossible to predict if she is fertile and ready to mate as all bitches are different and will be fertile at different stages.

It is better to be safe than risk an accidental mating.

A good idea is to take her out in the car to a remote place where there are not likely to be many dogs and keep her on the lead at all times.
