Red face Toileting

vegas has been very good with toileting for the first week, but she is urinating everywhere again! on my bed, near her dinner bowl, on the carpets and on the stairs and landing!

im getting rather annoyed, i know she is still a young puppy and is still learning but i dont know why she is weeing everywhere again.

when she is told no after doing a wee where she shouldnt, she goes onto the paper and does a wee!

has anyone got any tips on how to stop her from going everywhere else but the paper?

Re: Toileting

You said earlier she doesnt really go in your garden to toilet as the fence needs work , i think even if you were out there with her to keep an eye on her she should be introduced to going outside , problem will be , that you will get her to toilet on papaer then you will have to re train her to go out side , put her on her lead and get her to go out side , if she has got hot and has drank a lot she will need to pee all the time and as pups cant hold themselves she will just go where she is standing at the time , every 20 mins minimum she should be outside and given lots of praise when she goes , she wont understand being told no after she has had an accident , she doesny realise that the house isnt the place to wee as she is allowed to wee in the house but on paper. I think you need to get the O/H down to B&Q to but some fence pannels lol .

Red face Re: Toileting

thanks for the advice.
when she needs to wee she goes down stairs to the paper most of the time but then doesnt go on the paper unless we go with her, but she is doing the number 2's on it?

vegas has got diarrhoea again and it is rather soft and runny. i took away the carrot earlier as well, just in case it is that!

she was re-wormed yesturday with milbemax from the vets and has not stopped going to the toilet for a number 2 since then! could the wormers give her the diarrhoea?

im going to ring the vets tomorrow, but just wondered if there is anything i can do again!

Re: Toileting

No just leave her it could be a combination of the wormer and it being hot over the last few days , dont worry carrot isnt going to be doing her any harm , just dont give her anything else tonight but make sure she has plenty of water pups will soon dehydrate with the runs and it being hot too , if you think she hasnt had enough to drink put the tiniest splash of milk in her water she will finish the bowl but then you l have to watch the wee ing lol .

Red face Re: Toileting

she had her last biscuit meal at 6pm tonight and has done about 5 or 6 poos since then!

no i dont crate her, she has her own big plastic bed with plenty of comfies in it for her. she sleeps in this at night in our bedroom, but doesnt siol in it.

she is not dehydrated and goes to her bowl anytime she needs to even if she is upstairs. we also take her to it and tell her to have a drink, and 9 times out of 10 she does have a drink!

weve had the windows open all day and shes still been hot and bothered. shes been having a mad few hours and has only just fallen asleep in her bed, which she took herself off to after she had a drink and toileted!

Yes the wormer will give her diahorrea.

She isn't old enough to have proper control over her bladder or bowels yet so accidents will happen. Take her out at the advised times, i.e. after eating, drinking, sleeping and playing to get her to associate peeing and pooing with going outside.

I wouldn't let her be too far away from the toilet area unless she has just been, the closer she is the more likely she is to make it to the proper area, if she's upstairs on your bed she's got no chance of finding her way to the toilet in time.

You're doing yourself no favours paper training her. You need to be training her to go outside otherwise she will get used to going on the paper and you will have to re-train her to go outside.

Re: Toileting

i will start toileting her outside tomorrow, straight after she wakes up, eaten, played, etc!

i didnt really want her to go out until she had had at least her first vaccination, just in case she picked up something!
