A couple of questions please xx

Hi everyone, wonder if anyone can help me? My cavalier Henry had his 2nd lot of vaccinations today and he was micro chipped at the same time,

He bled after the micro chip was put in is that normal? I was a bit worried when i saw him bleeding,

Also this eve he has just been for a poo and it was a bit runny with a drop of blood after he had finished, i rang the vets and she said as he has been ok untill now it may be that he is just stressed as this can bring on colitis (sp?) it should clear itself but if i see more blood i should take him back,

Has anyone else had this happen and what is colitis?

Henry is 13 weeks old

Thanks in advance for any replies xxx

Colitis Explained Veterinary Information you can use for your pet from Samantha Coe vetbase.co.uk

This explains it better than I could
I must say, it doesn't sound like colitis to me, they usually have an upset tum for a few days before you see blood with colitis

Small amount of blood post chip is fine, just everytime u go to the vets ensure they check its position just incase it migrates to a different spot, can happen....not often though!
Small amount of blood in faeces can be a couple of things, first one i would guess is over straining which may produce a little fresh blood as he finishes his "deposit"!
The 2nd a little intestinal irritation which can have many causes inc stress, the gut lining becomes a little inflamed and bleeds slightly which would result in runny dark very smelly "deposit" and pup would go frequently often only producing small amounts.
As long as not being sick i wouldnt worry too much at this stage, leave it a couple of days and if still the same back to vet.

I would of thought it was stress related. It cant be nice to have this put into the neck, the needle is quite big too, this is why I wont get my chihuahua's done until they are finished growing, then I may get it done. Aww the neck is probable sore too, bless the little one,. But if in doubt always consult your vet.
