Canine Alopecia / Follicular Dysplasia in Doberman Bitch

A new customers Doberman has Alopecia. The vets have tested for food intollerances and all have come back negative or minimal but they have put her on a gluten free diet, not sure why really but they have and some kind of medication which doesn't look like it's doing much to me.

After examining her and doing some digging around on the net I'm pretty sure she has Follicular Dysplasia, thing is there doesn't seem to be any treatment suggested anywhere.

Does anyone have experience of this condition or know of a treatment?

Alopecia is something ive had dealings with being a hairdresser common causes for it are stress !!!! and worry , its often triggered by a hormonal imballance that results in the hair follicles closing down , it in most cases can be temporary with hair re growing in time , i often ask my clients to think of what it could be that they have been stressing over and to start trying to relax more eat healthily and take a vit supplement designed for hair skin and nails to help promote growth , also massage is good as a stimulant as hair is fed by the blood supply massage can help source fresh blood under the skin to feed dormant hair follicles .

Some dogs are very allergic to Febreeze we campaigned down here to have it removed from by the pet stuff - a dog I used to handle was brought to a show and she had sprayed his bed with febreeze by the time we got him out of the car he had pistules all over him and we had to wash him down at the show to try and get the offending substance of him, another one was an elkhound with an eye problem which the vets could not solve I asked the owner if she used febreeze which she did in her car she stopped using it the eye cleared up!!!! Another one that can set up skin probs is shake'n'vac all daily household things but can be a problem to some dogs and the dobe with a short coat these things would be absorbed into the skin quite quickly before they have time to 'wear' off.

Some dogs are ok with it but I would never use it and chance it cos after seeing for myself just the two that I have given as examples (and there are others as well) BUT they were using it directly on the dogs bedding etc which is what it has been advertised as being ok for I wont ever buy it and think it should carry a warning as well.

We put archies bedding in the washing machine, I only use that stuff on my suits because I smoke and its not the best impression to give at meetings to have that stale smell on you. I always think if an animals bed smells -clean it! don't just cover up the smell with something else!!!
