Unhappy Chihuahua - possible back problem

I have an almost 8 month male chihuahua.

I've noticed that when he's been sleeping, and wakes up, he doesn't immediately get all use of his hind legs; it's like they are still "asleep", he's still sleepy, and wobbles a bit when he walks and flops over onto his butt when he stands.

All returns to normal once he's completely awake. He's hyper-active and runs rings around my collie.

Is this normal, or should I be worried about future implications of this.

I'm not worried enough to go to a vet yet as I'm sure it's going to be one of those conditions that will cost a fortune in a multitude of inconclusive tests and no diagnosis at the end of it. I'm just wondering if there are any long-time chi owners out there who've come across this...

I'm in Ireland...

Try a McTimoney chiropracter first you have to tell your vet you are going but they work wonders and with no intrusive treatment. Good luck sounds like a trapped nerve to me but not a chi person!!!!

if you contact your local vets then they will be able to point you in the right direction and tell you where the nearest one is!
