Help with Chews

My boy is a major chewer, he absolutely loves to chew, it's a proper activity for him.

Problem is he has a real sensitive tummy and we have to be really careful about giving him anything other than his food because he gets really bad aquirts.

He loves rawhides chews and I mean loves them, but he gets such bad squirts the next day, it's such a shame.

I've tried him with Hollings Filled Bones which he likes but it's just not the same as a big chew.

Does anyone have any ideas of what else I could try him with or is there any kind of 'healthy/natural' chews that he could get?

I'm kind of at a loss with what else I could try him with, any advice would be much appreciated.

I agree with Badgers Mum,try a raw bone.
You may want to scrape out some marrow if there is alot in there as it may be a bit rich.
Ours get runny on rawhide,it's very high in protein.

Re: Help with Chews

Have you tried a carrot? Bella loves them. Admitedly she does have carrot poo afterwards but hey!
I stopped giving her rawhide as I was told they can choke on them and cannot diget it properly...

Re: Help with Chews

Another vote for raw here - i would go for lamb ribs though, lamb seems to be better for sensetive tummys

You could try a black kong (theyre designed for big chewers), fill it with some of his normal food (soak and mash it first if its dry food then freeze it so it lasts longer!) then you know it wont effect his tummy!

Re: Help with Chews

Thanks so much for all the replies.

I haven't tried him on a raw bone but I will certainly give that a go.

He loves carrots but they last him for like 2 minutes, seriously, he's a big boy! For example, a 12inch rawhide would last him about an hour and 30 mins maybe, I've timed him! LOL!

Chewing is a real activity for him, he gets quite depressed when he can't have a chew.

We don't have Wilkos up here but the Holling's fille bones are okay but it's not a chew.

He's got as black Kong which again, is okay, but it's still not a chew!

I will definitely try raw with him.

Thanks again!
