Re: yeast infection on skin

My poor Buffy started spotting this morning so had to go back to the vets again. Looks like an infection so she is on yet another course of antibiotics.

Her skin has shown good signs of improving but the vet has said it could take up to a whole year for her hair to fully return.

I am hoping that this will be the last complication she will have and will make a fully recovery soon.

Re: yeast infection on skin

oh god shes been through the mill hasnt she

hope her luck turns soon and she gets on the road to recovery and stays there

I wouldnt be pleased paying out the money to removed something that shouldve been removed while being spayed. If they (the same practice) did thier job correctly in the first place she wouldnt have to go through it again

Re: yeast infection on skin

I know what you mean.

They think she has got stump pyometra. When she had the op a couple of weeks ago, to remove the ovarian cyst, they also trimmed down her stump to the bare minimum as it had a cyst on there as well.

My poor Buffy, who used to be so quiet when she went to the vets, now barks and snarls as soon as we enter the waiting room. She also tries to climb on my lap!!!!!

The thing that is worrying me is that the vet said that if she does not show any signs of improvement, we will have to take her back in to have an ultrasound to see what is going on. I am hoping and praying that she will not need this, as for her to undergo another traumatic experience is so unfair on her.

Re: yeast infection on skin

I would contest the payment, as if it was me i would look at it like:-

"I paid for the work to be carried out well in the first place"
And now after everything she has been through already, She should not need a further OP due to them.

I also would move vets after the treatment.

Hopes she gets better soon x

Re: yeast infection on skin

I have only paid half the vets fees from the operation to remove the ovarian cyst. I did express my concerns when she had the pre-op check last week about the fact that it is costing another £600 to remove a cyst that shouldn't not have been able to form. All the vet said was that it is a possibilty that it was an ovarian cyst. The sample he sent off to be examined did not contain any ovarian tissue. But how can a cyst form from nothing? He also stated that these things can happen.

I am not paying them a penny until all the problems associated with this has been sorted. I think my dog has been through enough already due to their oops's.

Re: yeast infection on skin

We have gradually changed her food to 'Burns' and also giving her conditioning tablets. This, I think, has helped her skin condition alot.

She has allways been a fussy eater. Sometimes she would eat Butchers Tripe, then she would go off of it so we changed to Winalot, then she went off of that. Before we changed to Burns, she was on Tescos meat in jelly, which she loved.

Re: yeast infection on skin

Hi, poor Buffy really has been through the mill - hope things pick up soon.

My wolfie suffers a form of yeast infection...we changed her food to burns and give her Efavet tablets. We also sponge the sore patches with maleseb shampoo. This has really helped and she now looks much better and her hair has grown back in lovely condition.

Good luck with Buffy

Re: yeast infection on skin

We are currently bathing her in the Maleseb shampoo at the moment. She went off her food a bit last week. This, I can only assume, is a result of the infection building up inside her.
