I'm Worried about my Dalmatian...

I have a 4 year old Dalmatian called Hollie, Over the past week she hasn't been keeping her food down and also not passing stool, although over the past two days shes been pooping and it has been quite solid which I'm happy about and she seemed to be on the mend, I feed her a full cup of dry food every night for her tea and she has a slice of dried toast for her breakfast every morning, but shes not the same when she eats it, she used to wolf it down quite happily but now she picks at it and hasn't been finishing her food, she seems quite upset and mopes around quite a lot as if shes depressed and she still doesn't keep her food down most of the time. I'm worried about her because I don't know if this is serious or just a tummy bug. any idea's??

I think if it was a tummy bug she would have the squits and possibly being sick , have you considered maybe an obstuction in her gut from something she has swallowed maybe a chew too big or something else allien , an obstruction would maybe make her sick as it cant pass to stay in the gut . Bread also isnt great for them as its made from wheat a food stuff often linked to allergies and bloat in some cases , maybe a trip to the vet so she can be examined for possible causes , Im sur she will be fine but i would get her checked out as soon as poss

Very good, sound advice from Andrea. There is also the possibility that she is constipated - make sure she has plenty of water to drink (but not from midnight before the day you take her to the vet just in case she has an obstruction and needs an op!).

Re: I'm Worried about my Dalmatian...

A quick update on little Hollie!, Shes much much better now, vet advised us to starve her for a day and make sure she drank loads of water which has made her a hell of a lot better and shes getting back to her usual self, as for the fact she was picking at her food, I thought her food was a bit to difficult to chew for her so i just mixed in a bit of gravy and let it cool down then shes back to wolfing it down!!
thanks again for the advice =]
