I was on the park earlier and got talking to a dog owner who had been having one on one for his dog with a specialist of some sort.

I thought I had learned a lot since being on PF, but have never heard what he told me.

We were discussing dog food, and I told him I had changed Molly to Naturediet since getting advice....he feeds his Lhasa on Wellbeloved, which I said I had heard was good too.

Then he said the specialist had told him to beware of all dog food with "ASH" written on the sides as it is made from the ashes of cremated dogs.....is this true?

It sounds ridiculous, but he swore the lady had told him this.

I think he was winding you up.
So, all the dog food manufactures are being sent cremated dogs, I think not

lol

Ash is the mineral content. Bascially, if its not protein, fibre, carbs, fat or moisture, its classed as ash.
This explains it well..

I think its the food as a whole. So whatever goes into the feed, be it cereal or meat, once its burnt, the Ash level can then be accurately recorded for that particular feed/brand.
