insect bites??
I was stroking my pet Beagle on his leg as he lay on my lap and i felt a hard raised rough lump on his leg. it looked like a large mole about 8mm long and 3mm wide, and the fur around it isn't there and it isn't covered up. i then found another one, more rounded, a few centimetres above, although this was hidden under the fur.
on closer inspection i think they are scabs but are unsure how he got them. we don't think he injured himself whilst on his walk or playing so i am thinking they could be insect bites, or a nettle sting, and he has worked at them as they are itchy.
he's fine in himself, no change at all, still playful, not off his food, which is why i feel its only an irritating insect bite or something similar.
if it is a bite and now a scab has anyone any remedies i can apply to it to help soothe it? bearing in mind this is an area where he can lick and gnaw at.
or is it best just to leave it and let the dogs own saliva and natural healing abilities to heal it?
