Re: Kidney failure

Hi

I got maggi's urine results back and she has an ecoli infection which they have given antibiotics for but if the truth be known i'm not sure what stage her kidneys are at x i'm hoping to get a copy of her blood works etc from the holistic vet as he getting them faxed over from my vets and get some answers from him as im sure he will be more honest as my vets just said i had a max of 2 months with her?! apart from the antiB's she isn't on anything except the Hills KD x which to be honest she will only eat if i stick white fish in it x i have found a yahoo group especially for renal failure if anyone would like the address please email me x they have homemade diets and advice from people who have gone through it or are going through it x there is a lot to the group i wont lie its quite confusing but then that could just be me x i'l let you know what happens at the holistic vet tomorrow x

Re: Kidney failure

Hi

The visit to the holistic vet went well yesterday x I have more hope now than i did have x he has given Maggi some phosphorus binder and some omega-3 oils and some holistic tablets x he recomended keeping Maggi on the Hill's K/D but making it more palatable by adding either white fish, rabbit or chicken x in addition to this he has recomended juicing organic carrot brocolli and spinach together and putting it in ice cube trays for ease of use and put one in her dinner when melted and this should help her anemia x Maggi weighs 70lbs or 32kg and for her weight he said 2 tablespoons x

God ive had trouble with my internet since i wrote that paragraph on saturday x she's decided she doesnt want to eat very much now x tried her on the rabbit which i must say she enjoyes but i need a jurasic rabbit really these ones are quite slim lol x but fingers crossed its just the hill's she doesnt like so it looks like i'm gonna have to start home cooking for her x

xxx

Re: Kidney failure

Pleased you seem more positive.
What is the prognosis of the new vet?
Home cooking for her is worth it though eh?

Hello Maggies Mum,

I'm so sorry to hear your news.
I went through exactly the same with one of mine back in december and i know how you tried everything possible to help her.
Like you we went to a holistic vet ,homemade diet, supplements, you name it we did it but there is only so much you can do.It's heartbreaking

I'm sorry you're feeling so down,i always find when i have lost one of mine it tends to hit me again badly after 2 or 3 months and it hurts like hell, but it does get easier, slowly.
Like you i also felt terribly guilty and you go over and over things in your head,i think that's natural.
I hope you sadness is replaced by happy memories soon xxxx
