Excessive pooing?

Hi all, my one year old rottie x mastiff seems to be pooing a lot, up to 4 times a day, quite substantial deposits aswell, as far as i can tell she is a very fit and healthy dog but does seen a little thin at the waist maybe, she has been on 1lb of tripe and 2 cups of chicken/rice biscuits twice a day from 6 months which seems about right appetite wise, any ideas? Tom

Re: Excessive pooing?

If she is a little thin at the waist it could be worms check how long it was since she was last wormed, when you say chicken and rice biscuits i presume you mean a dry complete food what make are you feeding? there is a lot of poor quality commercial food out there, and if there is a lot of rubbish in it then she will poo more the more rubbish that goes in the more there is to come out. Dont think ime wanting to offend you over the food i fed a poor quality food years ago as i knew no different, until i was told about it.

Re: Excessive pooing?

My dog poos a lot and it hasn't been causing problems so I'd say it's nothing to worry about. The metabolism probably kicks in after a bit of running around.

Re: Excessive pooing?

for me you are feeding her to much. i.e you are feeding a complete food so she should not need any tripe with it. 2lb of tripe and 4cups of complete food aday is alot of food. my biggest male rott is on 1lb of tripe with a jug of plain terrier meal biscut twice aday and is more than enough for him.2009_021018jan2009sec20171.jpg

if i was you i would either feed the complete food or change her to just tripe and terrier meal biscut twice a day.
