Naturediet...Opinions Pls as dogs have runny poos!

Hiya everyone!

I wonder if I could please have some advise.

We feed out dogs on Pets at Home Own Brand Complete and they all enjoy it and it seems to be good for them, however they all still have runny loose poos...no tummy probs, just runny poos....which I still dont think is right

I notice alot of ppl on the forum comment on how nice and firm there dogs poos are, does the harder it is mean they're healthier?

We used to feed the dogs on meat (canned dog food) only diet but was advised to try complete food as good for there teeth to have a bit of crunch.

I just wondered if anyone can answer my questions..............

1) When looking for the best dog food, whats the no.1 thing to look for in it

2) is it REALLY best to feed dogs on complete as opposed to meat only as altho my logs enjoy there complete, they're never as enthusiastic as when we used to feed them on meat

3) And finally, Naturediet, lots of ppl on here (esp DT!!!) love Naturediet and Ive heard alot of success stories.... can you all tell me why its so good...what good it does for the dogs and why its so highly recommended...

Thanks everyone!!!!!

Nature diet is good because the main scource of protien comes from a reliable scource! Many companies include animal devrivatories in their calculations - which include the whole carcus including bone!

Nature Diet & Forthglade of two of the 'older' better quality natural foods on the market imo - although have noticed that several more companies have started to produce a similar range!

Re: Naturediet...Opinions Pls as dogs have runny poos!

Ok

I feed Billy Naturediet as his main food, with raw meaty bones (chicken wings) to keep his teeth and jaw in good condition (chewing).

He poops on average 1-2 times a day, its nice and firm and he has no trouble going.

If i was not always off to visit friends and family I would be feeding a raw only diet to him, however for convenience i find naturediet to be the next best alternative. There are similar foods out there to try, forthglade is one.

I feed my cats a raw diet, but they also get forthglade too as its much easier for friends to feed without panicking. Naturediet dont do a cat food yet which is a shame. My cats do have arden grange biccys available at all times, but they are rarely touched. With currently 6 adult cats (3 fosters) and 12 weaning kittens my 3kg of arden grange is still almost full a month later, i change it every day but dont put much down now as they hardly touch it.

The thing about biscuits being good for the teeth is a myth and can actually have the opposite effect. Good chewing will help to clean the teeth and will keep their jaw muscles toned and strong.

So the short answer to your question to me would be: Naturediet is the next best thing to a raw natural diet.

hope it helps xxx

BBM: Naturediet used to do a catfood, but it wasnt very popular or palatable so they gave up.

Naturediet is a quality product, although i still feed mine JWB with a bit of ND mixed in.

Up to a point. They should be firm enough to pick up and they should stay in one piece when you do, but not be so hard that the dog can't pass them easily.

If it ain't fixed don't mend it nonnie! but since JWB were taken over I do think they have changed, also many dogs have more poos and some are runny of it! you ever looked at Arden Grange?
