puppy food

At the moment our pup is being fed on Nature diet puppy and junior, I want to change her onto a complete dry puppy food, i bought some purina beta puppy yesterday to try her on, does anyone have any particular recommendations for a puppy food, i really would like to avoid artificial colours, flavours etc, im quite interested to try her on the james wellbeloved but any thoughts welcome

Re: puppy food

Is there a reason you want to take her off ND - there is a saying if it ain't broke don't fix it!!!
Arden Grange & Burns are both two excellent dry foods that are worth looking at.
Myself ND does however win with me everytime! But many. many people do prefer to feed dry.
lol

Yes i prefer to feed all my animals a diet of predominatley dry food, I tend to leave food down for my animals rather than have a set feeding time, as we have a hectic schedule and i dont like leaving wet food down!

Re: puppy food

It is not something I do myself (leave food down) it does not last long enough. IT is not up to I to tell you how to feed you dog but I understand most people remove any uneaten food after ten minutes or so. Do you just have the one dog??? or is you name the anser to that??
regards

I feed my pup Purina puppy. He is ver content apart from not sleeping thru the night
I am considering feeding Burns. I haven't changed yet as Bichons can suffer with tear stains which my little one doesn't. I am concerened that a new food may set of tear staining.

I have brought my two up on Burns,it is a good food.

They are currently been fed JWB,as my pet shop hasn't had any Burns in for a while.

Re: puppy food

I would try burns i have fed it for he past 3 years my last pup was given it at 5 weeks i took it up for the breeder to feed her, it is completely natural Mr Burns is a vet and promotes with his puppy food(mini bites) a lower protein content so a gradual growth some cheaper not good quality puppy food had a high protein content which encourages fast growth that can later in life cause skeletal deformaties, i would certainly look at it and give it a try.

Re: puppy food

We give Mika Hills. when we got him from the breeder she gave us some Purina puppy mix and we gave him that from the day we got him home, but he for some reason didn't seem to appreciate it. So we went to Pets at Home and got him Hills, and he loves it.
