Re: Ticks in Thetford

Thanks....I have a good inspection see what I can find. I often pick them off the hedgehogs I bring in. Disgusting creatures.

Re: Ticks in Thetford

I hate ticks too, but the tick twisters are great little tools for getting them out. Just a word of warning though my ex partner has recently contracted Lyme disease from a tick bite and is really poorly. The doctors are treating him with strong antibiotics the type that they treat malaria with and have told him not to expect to fully recover for up to nine months! Not good!

Make sure you tuck your trousers into your boots lol!

Oh no! how horrible for you. I hope he recovers quickly. I was aware of Lymes, and Thetford is a high risk area for the disease. I'll be really careful if I find any. I have absolutely no idea how you go about finding them in a breed with so much fur. It takes me a while to find his collar!

I sympathise, I have enough trouble finding them on Alfie and he's got really short hair -I always wondered how owners of hairy breeds get on! I did once have a long haired cat who liked to sleep in a horses stable and picked up a few ticks and it was just a case of feeling for lumps...

Talking about feeling for lumps, I was cutting a bramble out of his fur at the back the other day, when I came across a lump!! Thinking it was a tumor I got all upset then realised I was actually squeezing one of his balls!no wonder he had a smile on his face
