I would switch back to this and leave your puppy on it until everything settles down again. If he was happy on it then I wouldn't change it again. If you do want to change it do it over a couple of weeks slowly introducing the new food.

If this is purely a price issue then zooplus (Pet Supplies, Pet Food, and Pet Products on Sale Now at zooplus.co.uk) sells Almo Nature @ £30.00 for 7.5 kg - £4.00 per kg + free P&P (your paying £3.75 per kg for JWB).

Justn had a look at the food, in my instance it would have been unsuitable me, as we had to change the main scource of protien initially, for one that the dog had not been subjuected to in the past, this meant either lamb or duck, I understand this food is only available in Chicken?

Many vets will advising changing main protein scource early on in a lot of these allergy related conditions.

Re: Change of food

it depends on which you prioritize more.. dog's health or your pocket.. yes, as long as the dog's eating the food, why not??? if there would be change with the way the dog eats, especially when you change the food, there is where you think which one to keep..

Re: Change of food

It wasn't just the cost it was also variety, chicken and rice or chicken and rice and although he started off liking it, as the week went on he was beginging to turn up his nose. So i thought JWB was a good dry food plus they do have other flavours for puppy.
He is on home cooked chicken and rice at the moment as instructed by vet along with his Tablets for a week then i will have to slowly introduce his dry food back into his diet.

Re: Change of food

Have arealy post a couple of times on this link - but if I were you I would seriously look at the NatureDiet - which is a wet food! and not in my opinion overexpensive! If you buy it from berriewood you can make substantial savings!

Re: Change of food

The best food for you dog is the food your dog does best on

There is no one food that will suit all dogs, some dogs may do GREAT on one brand and another dog may suffer on it.

I personally feed a raw diet, it only suits two of my dogs so the third eats a combination of raw chicken bones and Artemis dried food.

Sometimes finding the right food can take a bit of trial and error, if I am considering switching dried food for whatever reason, I often contact the food supplier or company and ask for a sample pack, which they send to you for free. That way I can see if my dogs like it, and respond well to it initially before buying a whole bag.

My first sheltie did brilliantly on Robbies but I'm going back about 4/5 years now. It's actually made by John Burn's brother, they had a big falling out about some type of food that John Burns wanted to produce ( I think it was the pork one ) and that's how Robbies came about. it was a hassle to get delivered so I went back to feeding Burns.

I'm now a big fan of Orijen, there's far to many carbs in most of the other foods for my liking.

Re: Change of food

Didn't really want to start giving him wet would really like to stick with dry so its either almo nature again or try the arden grange neither of them have a choice in flavour for puppy.
