Should I Change Food?

Hi All

Pippin has been having two meals a day since we got her in August. She was a year old in December and we got her from the dog warden. Previous owners left no info regarding food so we put her on James Wellbeloved. She has a mix of wet and dry. The wet she wolfs down in a flash, but the dry can stay there all day which she will pick at when she fancies it.

How do you know if you should change your dogs food? She has regular bowel movements and we have never had a bad bum or tum! I dont know if she is being picky ...if she really didnt like the dry she wouldnt touch it surely!

We have a bag of dry to get through and a whole box of wet sachets too.

Any ideas if she is fussy/not liking it/should i try something in the future? If so, any ideas?

Thanks!

Hiya mate
I've just started a thread about this
Feed her what she likes, that's what I think.
She likes wet, feed wet.
Can you get hold of nature diet as this might work out a bit cheaper

Re: Should I Change Food?

Hello dear friend x

We can get Natures Diet yes...I guess the only reason I have a thing about dry food is that a friend of mine swears by it. Im worried that if Pip just has wet it will not do her teeth much good. But I feel that just feeding dry is too harsh too!

Too confusing!

You could always give her a bone once a week for teeth cleaning

Wet does no more damage to the teeth then dry - with the dry the partical still get stuck in the teeth, as Rona says make sure he has a good raw bone at least once a week! Also yo can put a handful of dry in with his wet for one of the meals

Re: Should I Change Food?

True!

As I said, she does pick at the biccies, but never eats the lot.

Yet I know that if we put a whole pouch of wet down she eats it all!

She is still only around 5kg, looks more furry now thank god!

I shall have to experiment and have a think about it......great minds eh friend!x

Re: Should I Change Food?

I use a little dry food to sprinkle around the garden for Alf to go and rummage for, keeps him busy for a few minutes

Oscar is the same. I just posted a thread about it. He's a chunker, so not starving but he seems to dislike the dry and I end up throwing it away.
