Re: Colitis
Thanks for the tip will give the nature diet and arden grange a go, let you know how we get on somehow expect another food battle (can you tell getting quite defeatist) can't wait till little wosit is 12months then wont feel so bad if let him get on with it when in a strop with his food.

Re: Colitis
You know what I am going to recommend Nature Diet and Arden Grange.
BUT - if I were you I would introduce the Nature Diet first and not be tempted to add the arden grange until you at least see if this settles, then I would give it at least 6 weeks. Some dogs with colitius cannot tolerate dry food at all! DT |

Re: Colitis
Yes I agree with DT as my collie had bad colitis some months back and the vet said he would most likely keep getting it. So they said he would need their Hills D/D diet. But I tried him on Naturediet and so far we have no bad tum upsets I do put in a little kibble (10 gramms ) so I can also recommend this food.

Re: Colitis
My dog had colitis quite frequently when I first got her, I put her on a hypoallergenic food (Skinners) which really helped, also adding a quarter teaspoon of slippery elm powder to meals. It's a medicinal plant made from the inner bark of a tree that soothes the gut lining, you can buy it loose from good health food shops. It's also good for digestive problems in humans, though it does look rather unpleasant. My dog is mostly fine now, but if she starts going a bit 'loose' I add the slippery elm to her food for a few days and it quickly sorts it out.
