Dog treats and dental chews

Hi I just wondered what others give their dogs as treats and if they use dental sticks?
I have a very small dog so can not give her too many treats as she would fill up on them. She gets around one schmacko per day in pieces and a small dental stick per day but as I have just found out that her food is not the best I am now wondering if my treats are not so good for her either. I also sometimes give her some small cubes of cheese as a premium treat. We dont eat much meat but if we do have meat she gets a small portion of that too. She was given a pigs ear at the poodle parlour once but wasnt bothered with it and let a boxer take it ( lucky boxer ). She also likes to chew on a rawhide stick occasionally but as she is so small they last ages - in fact I think she is still chewing on one she had from being a pup
Anyway what do others give their dogs as treats and are the dental sticks worth it

Re: Dog treats and dental chews

Hi i have a little dog to,she is a chihuahua x toy yorkie and is only 2.3 kg ,i give her a half a dental stick now and then, and the tiny hide chews, but she never eats them and they usually end up under the sofa cushions, where she buries them, then guards them!

Tootsie sometimes hides her treats too, although her idea of hiding is in plain view of everybody but as long as she thinks that nobody has seen where she has 'hidden' her treats then she will leave them there. My daughter has gone to school and found a chew in her pencil case. She tends to hide them along the skirting boards or on the stairs. I find it hilarious as she is the only pet that I have so nobody is going to pinch them from her anyway

Haha I've got you thinking now haven't I!?!

We give Milo a DentaStix everyday and he gets Smackos, Marrowbone Treats and Gravey Bones as treat for being good. None of which are good for him. But what can you do? Unless you're going to make them yourself you're stuffed, theres not alot out there that is actually good for them.
