Hair loss

Hi everyone i am new here today and i have a question
I have a 13 week old Staff cross bitch who has some hair loss around her eyes, side of face and her chest,it isn't scabby, she isn't itchy, seems very happy in herself, eating drinking well,we have had her for 1 one 2day
any ideas what it could be??
when we got her she has this and so did the other 2 pups we was told and informed that they had been to the vets and was advised it was stress due to 2 many pups had been kept in a small pen is this possible, she is going to vets next week for her vaccination, but was wondering what it could be,ive read various different stories etc, from mange to mites but she isnt sore or itching loads,im at a loss...
thanks in advance
Mandy

Re: Hair loss

aww poor little thing she is lovely! it could be dermodectic mange which is common in young dogs who have experienced stress. I would take her back to the vet who should do a skin scrape.

Re: Hair loss

Your vet will need to examine this as skin conditions can worsen quickly and when they take hold can be a nightmare to resolve. If you vet takes some skin scrapes he will be able to identify if it is a parasitic infection such as mange or if it is an allergic disorder. sounds like a parasite though as the others also had the same symptoms and the mites will be able to spead easily if they were kept in a small enclosure. Remember you dont have to pay the vets price for the treatment- ask for a prescription and visit a veterinary pharmacy such as Pet Drugs Online to purchase the medication.
