rough pads ?

I was cuddling Toff last night and noticed his paw pads are really rough , running my finger over them was like going over a cheese grater
I had a quick look online and some people seem to think snow and water/hard surfaces can cause this condition
he isnt in any discomfort , and he's not biting or licking them but is there anything I can do to help smooth them out ... like applying some kind of oil or cream ? (any ideas which ones if thats the case)

Re: rough pads ?

This just means he's being exercised properly. My dogs paws are always like that

Re: rough pads ?

rona's dead right. they do toughen up due to walking, a bit like a workmans hands.
lookout for tears and cracking tho especially if they run like mad on hard surfaces and do zoomies and skids.

they can tear and get cut but there are products to relieve this and the usually heal quite quickly.
