Recovery time from neutering

Rocky is due to get neutured around the beginning of April (vet recommended he get done at 9 months, which he will be on 1st April) but just wondered how long he will take to recover as we are going up to Scotland for a week's holiday on the 10th - do you think he will be OK by then if we get him done around 1st or 2nd April? Or should we wait til we come back?

Re: Recovery time from neutering

I would wait until you come back, he should be ok but infections can happen and you wouldn't want to ruin your holiday

Re: Recovery time from neutering

I had Louie castrated last week and he was back to normal the next day, he has to go back tomorrow to have a check up to make sure everything has healed properly.
They all heal differently, if you are concerned than it may be worth waiting until after your holiday

Re: Recovery time from neutering

We have had 2 dogs castrated in the past, one of them was a little drowsy thae same evening, the other one you wouldnt have known he had had anything done. They were back to their normal walks within 2 days, weekend walks are much longer we didnt do that till the stitches were out. I have heared of complications but very rarely, if you do go away maybe put something over the wound the wound is very tine by the way.
