Dog stole some bones!

My 2 year old lab x staffie stole a small rack of cook pork ribs tonight. demolished them. Nothing left. I am really worried about splinters and obstructions in his bowels and whether these sharp bones are going to cause serious issues on the way through. he has eaten and drunk as normal since but I am really concerned about whether I should do anything for him or just wait and see? Any advice? He has never had bones of any type before.

Re: Dog stole some bones!

Chances are he'll be fine although cooked bones can be very harmful to a dogs insides.

I would just keep an eye him for now, look out for; changes in eating, trying to throw up but can't, bloody stools, no stools, lethargy, vomiting and pale gums. If you notice any of these get him to the vets asap.

Re: Dog stole some bones!

You may find he has the runs for a while as pork can be one of thoes things that if they have a sensetive tum they will react to . We gave our labs 2 organic nuckle end bones from the butcher last week they loved it but they were un cokked and they have nawed them away to virtually nothing , its kept them busy though lol . As already said just watch for singns that he isnt normal he should be ok but expect the runs maybe !!!
