puppy not eating

my 14 week old puppy was on beta dry food but we changed to Hills as we heard it was the best. Recently though we were advised to change from Hills (by police dog handler friend) and decided on Burns puppy food. The first day we mixed a very very small amount with the Hills and she was fine. But when hubby fed her yesterday she refused to eat it. Today the same happened and he had to throw out the food that had some burns in it and replace with just the Hills. Should we persevere with adding the Burns or try another one? Dont want to be left with lots of unused bags of food but will need to buy new bag of Hills soon.

Sometimes the Burns is a bit bland to dogs if he likes the Hills I would continue with that for a while. Then as he gets older you can change over to something esle.

when we got Mika the breeder gave us Purina to give him which he didn't like very much so we also moved to Hills too. He loves it!

Re: puppy not eating

I'd try hills and if the pup won't eat it you know they're just being fussy, in which case just persevere, they soon get the message that that's what they're getting an d nothing else!!!

Re: puppy not eating

She loves the Hills and we have had to give her that today as she turns her nose up at the Burns. Just concerned re-what the dog handler said about future problems. May try again when she is a bit older to change??

Check with the vet, see what he thinks. My vet always recommends Hills to us, in fact he always gives us a free bag of Hills whenever we bring a new puppy in for their first vacs.

Re: puppy not eating

To be honest being 14 weeks old and having a 3rd change of food I think I would turn my nose up too. Stick to what he knows for a while yet before thinking of changing over, and any change over must be done very gradually over a week or so.

If he is OK on Hills there is no reason to change at this point.
