not eating much

Hi

We had our puppy on sunday the breeder gave us some food which they have been on (royal canine mini ) which he said they mix with little fresh moist meat so I bought some sachets and put a little bit with the dry food which she eats a tiny bit of then leaves but she is hungry she crying and I find she likes to eat when im there with her if I walk away she will follow me and the slightest distraction and she leaves the food. yest she had tiny bit of dihorea and the breeder had given us an info sheet and said they liked rice pudding so I went out and got a tin last night and very late at night she was starving and ate it, again I was with her.

This morning when we woke I let her out and gave her her dry food with bit of moist she ate a mouthful and thats its so she started crying again so gave her bit of rice pudding which she ate some but hardly anything is this normal???? she is drinking ok and going to loo ok although she cries alot going to the loo like just before she goes and she did have bit of diorhea again this morning????

She is going to the vets a week tomor for her second injection I may ring them and she if she ok as also everytime she goes outside she sneezes constantly bless her

Im new to this so am a bit worried.

Thanks

Natalie

Re: not eating much

I'd gived the vet a ring it would put your mind at ease as puppies do need their food intake per day.

Re: not eating much

It is quite common for pups when they first leave their Mum and sisters and brothers to go off their food.

It seems as if you are doing the right thing.

I would give her small meals four times a day. Mix a little of the wet food with the dry -you could also try sardines in tomato sauce or tripe mince to tempt her.

Rice pudding - could be a bit rich for a sensitive pups tummy.

A pup won't starve themselves so try not to worry and try to stick to just giving them usual food so they don't start to get fussy.

If she doesn't get any better in a couple of days a trip to the vet just to be on the safe side might be in order.

Re: not eating much

Have you tried giving some boiled rice and chicken?Rice pudding because of the milk is likely to give your pup the runs..

Re: not eating much

Thanks for all your replies

Its funny a friend popped in earlier and I was saying how worried I was and with that she only cleared her bowl of food I have been mixing a bit of moist with the dry and she seems happy I will avoid the rice pudding its only that the breeder told us if she has upset tummy to give her rice pudding????!!!!!????? but in the same sentance of our advice sheet was avoid milk!!!!!!

She seems ok and is drinking and has ate today if she still not eating much by tomor I will take her to the vets in the morning.

I am also going to buy some diferent mosit food to mix and may try the sardines

Thanks again for advice
