Phantom pregnancy

Hi i have a problem with my staffie shes obsessed with a pepperami rubber toy, shes been carrying it round sleeping on it, whimp[ering when shes by it, i also came back at dinner time to find she had gone into my daughters room and took a collection of her cuddly toys onto my bed and set up a little creche!!! ive also just noticed she has milk coming out 1 of her nipples, has anyone else experienced this? or no what to do? its becoming a problem, i really do think that she thinks this pepperami toy is her pup!

she has not been done or has never been near a male dog,

Re: Phantom pregnancy

One of my bitches used to have phantom pregnancies, it isn't a problem unless they produce too much milk, then they need an injection to prevent mastitis.
Be aware of Pyometra. there is a sticky on this subject under this heading

Re: Phantom pregnancy

hi, a friend of mine had the same problem, her bitch was also turning aggessive to her other dogs and people who went near her, she was advised to take anything away the the bitch was using as her pups because the problem could get worse and last longer, within a couple of days the milk had gone and the bitch was back to her normal self, hope this helps, ju xx
