Amount of Food For Small Dog

Hi All

Pippin weighs 3kg...not much! It has only been after her haircut that we have realised how small she is, as she had a long shaggy coat before.

At the moment she has a third of a sachet of JWB with a handful of JWB kibble for breakfast and tea.

According to the food instructions, she should be on 70g or so of dry a day. If you use the pouches, then reduce amount of dry feed by 40g for every pouch used...I have no idea of what the 70g looks like tbh.
So i may start with half a pouch at each feed and a handfull of biscuits, it certainly wouldnt harm her to gain some weight. Im just concerned about the protein intake.

Can anyone give me any advise on this please? Thank you

Re: Amount of Food For Small Dog

Im not sure we give ours just under half a mneasuring cup at each feed (breakfast, lnch andtea) he'll eat all his breakfast but normally leaves a small amount of luncg and tea. Hes on JW aswell

Oh he weighs nearly 8kg though (hes 12weeks tomorrow) so hes alot bigger.

I'd try her with more the worsr i guess that will happen is she'll leave it and you'll enhd up throwing it away

Thank you....what breed is your pup?! Pip is fully grown now!
She loves the wet food but can be picky with the dry and tends to go back to nibble during the daytime.

Re: Amount of Food For Small Dog

I have 4 smal dogs they weigh 5kg, 6kg, and 2 weigh 9Kg.
I feed the all 2 handfuls of dry food in the morning and at tea time they get either chicken or scrambled egg with the biscuits from breakfast. They also get 2 treats daily too.

Pippin is a Toy Poodle X CKCS.....we rescued her from the dog wardens last August when she was about 8 months old. Turned out to be a star dog, were very lucky.
