Thumbs down pancrititus busy throwing up.....

My poor old cocker was rushed to the vets this morning as i noticed the sighs that he may have pancrititus as he had a belt back in june. He has been busy being sick , laying there and shaking, pooh runny and yellow and yellow bile, He has started to walk hunched up so sorry for him self.
. They have given him 2 injections and have to see how things go tonight. If no better in the morning or if he has a really bad turn in the night there going to put him on a drip.
Think im going to be claiming on the insurace again. My poor old boy i feel so helpless and he looks so sad and uncomfortable...... Looks like we are going to have to get a prescription diet from the vet in future they did think hed be ok on the food hes on. But have now said some times it can be triggered by stress ,infection or to high fat content in diet.

Oh, your poor lad and poor you - you must be worried.

Getting him on the drip A.S.A.P helps shorten the attack. Your vet's right about the diet - I've got my cavalier who's got pancreatitis on Royal Cannine Fat Free and she has improved... but the packet says that it's not for permanent use. I'm looking into feeding a raw diet - I'll keep you posted.

Also my vet (whom I trust 200%) says that pigs ears, raw hide chews ect must be banned as they contain high fat content - the hide chews are coated with fat. I've substituted them for nylon chewy bones.

I do hope he feels better soon xx Thank goodness you have insurance. Has the vet taken bloods again?

Take care and give the fella a big cuddle from us - keep us posted as there isn't many threads on this subject on here.

Yes i dont give any pigs ears etc any more i cant risk it. He use to like a raw bone sometimes and is ok with that he seems to enjoy that so that good. He has not been sick since 1.30 and has been asleep in his bed i think the rest will do him good. Fingers crossed he will be ok tonight. We had a real problem last time and nearly lost him dont want to go down that route. But this time i noticed the sighs alot earlier and they knew what to treat him for straight away. Last time he needed blood work as hed never had a belt before. Your right it is a worry as there like a child and so very helpless.
