Smile Feeding Advice

My puppy Louie is now 5 months old and weighs 2.5kg, I feed him at 9am,1pm and 5pm.

At what age would you recommend that i change him to 2 meals a day?

Re: Feeding Advice

Mine changed to 2 meals a day at about 6 months.

I'm sure Louie won't mind the change, mine didn't even seem to notice.

In fact Zipper is now 2 and sometimes doesn't even want his breakfast and just eats at 6pm on occasions.

Re: Feeding Advice

Our Yorkie, Rocky just turned 6 months and we have changed him over to 2 meals - the first 2 days he seemed hungry at around lunchtime, he's been fine since (altho I must admit I have fed him a few extra treats as I feel sorry for him!)

PS Your pup looks so cute in the picture!

Re: Feeding Advice

Thanks Everyone, i did think it would be ok at about 6 months.
I don't think he will miss his lunch meal too much, but i might need to invest in a bigger bowl.

Re: Feeding Advice

I would be inclined to feed three meals a little longer - keep checking his weight but I would tend to keep it at three meals until 8 or 9 months
regards

Re: Feeding Advice

Just read your original post again - you may want to start feeding him his breakfast a bit earlier and tea a bit later as he is going quite a while from tea to breakfast and then when you switch to 2 meals they will be more evenly spread out ie 12 hours from breakfast to tea and 12 hrs from tea to breakfast.
