Re: Hip dysplasia (2)
My 5 month old lab is recovering from an operation for elbow dysplasia. everything I have read suggests that a high protein, low carb diet is best for dogs with joint abnormalities, pretty much disounting every kibble on the market.
I feed Buddy a high quality raw meat and bones diet, ensuring plenty of raw oily fish is included and supplement with glucosamine, chondroitin and green lipped mussel. From day 1 after his op he has been like a different dog and I'm sure the diet has gone part way toward his swift recovery! |

I really can't understand how companies like Hill's supposedly do all this research and then come up with a grain based filler food. ![]() |

Re: Hip dysplasia (2)
I buy my nature diet from Berriewood wholesale - I use the lamb - I buy about 12 outers at a time so it works out at around 50p a pack - which is cheap.
If there is anyone in my area wanting this food I would willingly add it to my order providing you can collect it from me - I order about every 6 weeks. regards DT |

Re: Hip dysplasia (2)
Raw meaty bones (RMB) you can get from most butchers, they usually give them away or charge a minimal price as they have to pay to dispose of them. RMB's are a great natural source of glucosamine and chondroitin. Most pet shops now sell frozen pet minces and you can get supplements from supermarkets or chemists.
Have a look here for some good information on raw feeding: RawFed.com Home Page |
