cullamubba is on a distinguished road
Why is my dog suddenly soo lathargic and unhappy?!

My 2 year old bichon x yorkie is usually lively, running around, barking at anything that moves outside, playing ball, beating up his brothers! and he LOVES his food. He makes such a fuss when it's being prepared and practically bursts with excitement when it's given to him.

But yesterday morning he had to be called when his breakfast was ready and then barely ate any of it, although he did eat a little. He's been lathargic and generally unhappy. He's been the same today although he did perk up a little when he went for a walk but still not excited to go at all and went back to being lathargic and unhappy.

His poos have been fine but he has been eating grass alot.

The only thing thats different is that we got a kitten a week ago and he has been getting quite wound up when he sees her. Shes been staying in one room and they have only met a handful of time through a stair gate. He sits there fairly nicely but he shakes violently almost like he's scared of her but I dont know that he is. He occasionally snaps at one of our other cats so it worries me that he's just waiting to get hold of her.

I dont know if this is why he's suddenly soo unhappy. Has anyone else heard of this when theres no other symptoms as such?

It may well be the kitten but personally I would take him to the vets if he's not eating and appears lethargic.
Dally Banjo and Dogless like this.
