opinions wanted about this (meniscus/cruciate injuries)...
I have been doing some research about clicking coming from stifle joints as I think this is where the clicking from my pups leg is coming from when she puts a slight twist on it while walking (she ok walking straight), its not the hip but im sure its not the paw now, its the knee or stifle joint as its called.. most information on the web seems to point to a 'meniscal click' (torn meniscus)
however, I have come across some information that states most of the time these can be left to heal with plenty of rest and that some vets can be quick to suggest surgery which maybe un-neccesary and cause arthritis earlier in life (not too forget the risks with surgery) and that some vets may be suggesting it just too make money off the procedure? - yet other sources say that meniscal tears are almost always associated with cruciate ligament injury and therefore surgery is required... I just dont know what too believe, if we take our pup to the vet and the vet immediatley suggest surgery then im gunna be worried sick inacse what ive read is true... anyway, most of these injuries above are normally associated with some form of pain and discomfort whereas our pup is 100% fine and wants to run & jump about when we let her out of her cage. I was advised to wait until the new insurance (we took out last week with a new insurer after our KC freebie expired) kicked in over 2 weeks incase it was something serious and would be covered but my friends (online) wife works at a vets and she said the vet will know if the injury is old and will have to state so, so its possible the injury occurred while insured with old insurer heres some of the info ive read: AGAINST IMMEDIATE SURGERY FOR IMMEDIATE SURGERY heads battered ![]() has anyone had any experience with these injuries etc?? thanks |

Why don't you wait and see what a vet says about your dog? I tortured myself with internet research when Kilo developed his stifle click and convinced myself that it could be all manner of awful things. As you saw from the link I put on your other thread (not sure if you read it) it turned out to be something minor which resolved.

aye i defo read it.. just been back and read it again and i remember it now... god i hope it is just growing, she is in no pain (yet) and not having any problems - but when she walks about and it clicks...ooh its horrible, sometimes I think its both legs too but its hard too say, my sister looked at a recent photo of her (she seen her few weeks back) and she said she is tall and looks like she is growing fast, another person commented on her long legs while she is small for her age

Re: opinions wanted about this (meniscus/cruciate injuries)...
with Kilo was it only when he sat & raised...? or would it happen during walking too?
my partner would say in mornings she sure she looks bigger too I absolutely adore our pup and if it turns out she has got something serious because of me giving her 2-3 lots of 20 minute "off-the-lead" excersize per day then i dont think I will be able to live with myself knowing ive caused it ...iam besides myself now, iam waiting for my partner to come in to talk about taking her to vets asap |
