Feeding amounts WW wet trays.

Hi there,

after her illness last weekend, reba has regained her appetite. Hooray! But, we are giving her WW wet trays with a couple of handfulls of kibble mixed in. She loves it, but with the feeding guidance, she should be having about 1 tray a day. She is about 19kg, 7 months old, and a pretty active dog, some days more than others.

At the moment I am feeding her 1.5 trays a day plus a small amount of kibble mixed in. Sometimes she looks for more, sometimes not. Does this sound about right for her age/weight. I know that lots of people here have commented on the feeding guidleines for WW wet being far too lean.

Thanks
Gavs

Re: Feeding amounts WW wet trays.

HI,

I've fed a lot of WW and their RDA def wasnt enough for my little 8K terrier. I feed all wet and went by the RDA of other wets like Naturediet, Natures Harvest etc. They all recommend approx 400g per day and I fed the same amount of WW with no problems or weight gain. Of course, if you are adding kibble you will need to reduce the wet a bit.

Personally I would look at the RDA of other similar quality wets and use that as a guide. Perhaps start a bit less. It would help if you could calculate how much of the RDA of kibble he is getting and then deduct that proportion from the WW.

Hope that makes sense

Re: Feeding amounts WW wet trays.

Hi all, just after a bit of advice on the WW wet food. I had been mixing a small square of wet food with 2 cups of WW kibble however my pets at home store said that I should not be doing this and just keep him on the kibble. For the past month I have been just giving my 1 year old lab this and find he leaves it unless I mix it with a bit of cream cheese or pâté. Have tried numerous kibble in the past so don't want to keep changing his food again as he not eating them. Now thinking he is gona be a wet food fan and a bit worried as the local store are not a fan of wet food. They say kibble is best for there coats and teeth I'm told. Any help on this matter would be great.

Did they give a reason?

I mix a cup of Kibble with 1/3 third of a Wainwrights tray and some warm water from the kettle - Makes a lovely warm mushy meal which my girl gobbles down enthusiasticly.

I really like the WW trays for they quality they are but I wouldnt put her on just WW trays as the feeding guide is out and it would cost quite alot.

As long as your not overfeeding (1/2 the rda of kibble and 1/2 rda of wet) then I dont see what the problem is

If im honest I dont even measure Millies food - We feed by eye - She had more yesterday as we were out 4 hours walking in the snow. She will have less today as she is sleeping all day lol.

They told me the same yet they still sell the wet and I fed mine on WW trays for quite a while. It's a great wet food (better than any kibble IMO)

Mine has problems with kibble. I tried everything and once we changed to wet there was no looking back.

I would feed what you and your dog are happy with - if it's a mixture of the two, then so be it!!
