Whether or not a supermarket sells this stuff or not depends on the demographic of its store location.

So if you are in an up market area you may not find them.
Well, we're sort of in an up market area I suppose; never really thought about it although we have lots of abattoirs around us just wasn't sure if I could go direct to them.

Re: raw feeders - where do you buy your heart?

I either buy it from the supplier (when they have it in) or I find Morrisons are best for heart. I've actually just bought heart today from Tesco, they'd got sliced ox heart, something i'd never seen in there before.

I did indeed.

Tend to cut up the hearts when they are frozen, but still soft enough to cut....no blood that way. Looks like a massacre has occured if they are not frozen...blood everywhere and me wielding a cleaver .

Re: raw feeders - where do you buy your heart?

It's worth asking the butcher in case they keep them in the fridges out the back, my butchers does if he's just put everything out and there's not much space, I'm short on freezer space too but I have a lovely butcher who supplies me with whatever I need on a regular basis so it makes it a lot easier.

Re: raw feeders - where do you buy your heart?

I found some sliced ox heart in Tesco but you could ask your butcher to keep you some back to collect if they don't have room for it on the counter.

Re: raw feeders - where do you buy your heart?

I buy frozen hearts. I get the Prize choice hearts all ready cut up in small bits in a 2kg bag.

Morrisons is fab for stuff like that- but sadly mine is 18 miles away-so we don't go that often.
