How old is your dog?

I wouldn't advocate a mainly minced diet, as not only do the bones help keep teeth clean, but they also enjoy chewing on them, if you've never seen a dog with a chicken carcass before, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Re: Raw

You need a nutritionally balanced diet. A single meat source is unlikely to give this and the simple addition of bones do not adequately solve this. Raw feeding however is a great way to feed your dogs and is quite simple to do. I would recommend you do some research first including Raw Feeding: everything you need to know!

Re: Raw

You would also need to add offel in their diet such as liver, kidney etc, oily fish for omega 3 and bones for their teeth for their main calcium source

I'm very cautious about advising swapping dogs over, for the simple reason that a small minority do not suit raw, so for me, I'd rather people took things slowly than swapped straight over. I always tell people to try their dogs with chicken/turkey first, replace three or four meals per week with raw chicken/turkey carcass, and see how they take to that. If there are no adverse reactions after a fortnight or so, swap them over onto a green tripe and chicken/turkey based diet. From there, introduce new protein sources one at a time, that way, if anything causes an adverse reaction, you will most likely know what it is.

I think Kivasmum has done a menu to show what she's swapping her dog over to, which is spot on for me, and then introduce new proteins slowly. You never know, your dogs could be absolutely fine, no problems whatsoever, but knowing that there are a small number that can have an adverse reaction to raw chicken even, I'd suggest that note of caution and just take your time. It also leaves you time to sort out suppliers and freezer space, I get my stuff, or the majority of it, from the local butchers. Much of their diet is green tripe (which is minced in any case) chicken and lamb bones. I can send you my diet sheet if you want it, just email me at joanne@tarimoorart.co.uk

Re: Raw

Sleeping lions guide is a great help, and SLB also sent me an email with lots of useful info on if you pm her I'm sure she will send you it too. You need to research a lot, but you also need to keep it in perspective it's not as hard as it sounds, just one step at a time

Re: Raw

The thing about mince is you might find it more acceptable to you in terms of feeding a product that is distancing you from feeding one animal to another but it is not exercising the dog's teeth on bone and tendons on animal carcasses. Also you do not really know what you are feeding, with a lump of meat you can see if there is real muscle meat on it and how much is fat/connective tissue.
