How much wind is normal?

Our new pup is 14 weeks and we adopted her last saturday. She came to us on Arden Grange puppy food...she was on IAMS but it gave her an upset tummy. She is a lively, happy and playful pup and Im feeding her three meals per day as thats what she was having at her foster home (3 meals of 100g).

She is just having the arden grange with warm water on the top at the moment but i bought some nature diet in preparation of her coming home (i feel awfuly mean only giving kibble with no meat in top!) but I have left her diet as it was untill she adjusts.

The only thing im not sure about is wether the Arden Grange suits her...her poop seems a bit soft and not really pick upable and she has some wind which is rather potent!

Any thoughts?

Re: How much wind is normal?

I didn't want to read and run but have no advice i'm afraid other than I feed raw and wouldn't feed anything else personally. I started raw feeding over seven years ago because Marty was so poorly as a pup on any commercial food and haven't looked back. Changed T-Bo to raw after two weeks of having him and hated feeding him from a tin and bag!

I don't know if i've read somewhere that kibble creates wind and hope someone will come along who knows for sure.

In the meantime you could order this for a fiver: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Work-Wonders...7965510&sr=8-1
Sorry to go off topic but I love raw feeding and am always looking for converts, lol!
pogo likes this.

I know, it's a nightmare!

She's playful enough but her appetite is small. Uusually she could eat a horse!!

Am hoping it's just the meds, as her poo is normal though more infrequent, and no more vomiting.

Re: How much wind is normal?

It could be all the upheaval adjusting to her new home that's upset her a bit which is why it's a good idea to keep them on the food they are used to (well done) Usually it's the only constant in their little lives at this time.

Have you tried letting the kibble absorb the warm water before you feed it? Kibble is harder to digest but by letting it absorb fluid first, it's one less job for their little tums to do and may make it easier. (less trumps)

A bit of ND on her kibble once her tum has settled and been ok for a little while will be a treat I'm sure she will love. If you're happier to feed an all wet diet eventually, ND is one of the best.- Good luck

Have you tried the kibble dry maybe if the pup crunchys it there will be less wind. As pup sometimes gulp down their food.
