Unhappy poor Toby :'(

Hi everyone

this is just an update on Toby

unfortunately the vet thinks for toby he is unlucky enough to have a Tumour at 4 years old
he is going to do an endoscope on him tomorrow morning after i have taken him to the emergency vets in the morning @ 9am he is ever so poorly.

he just not eating at all, he drinks but then vomits this back up, cant keep anything down, when out for a walk along the promenade he was pooping out pure blood

took him tonight to get checked out after he went down hill from this mornings visit at the vets + blood test (the results didnt look promising) he still has Low Protein count (if anyone can help me understand what this is and means!)
he was my first dog from a puppy and he is such a lovely boy
he is a Bichon Frise and will be 5 on thursday poor baby may need an operation on his birthday, but i will make sure i spoilt him when he comes out, and buy him lots of treats from P@H

if anyone has witnessed a similar problem from their own dog I would love to hear from youxx

Re: poor Toby :'(

Sorry to hear about your dog but try not to worry too much until you have the test results. Has the vet actually felt a mass on examination.

The low protein shows up for lots of reasons ( mainly malabsorption consistent with GI disease though liver and kidney problems as well ) but if he's not eating at all of course this would impact on levels. However, very low albumin levels ( the main protein ) needs to be addressed as this has an important function in the blood vessels. My cat had this and one Gi issues resolved levels returned to normal.

I actually wonder if he's got something like ulcerative gastroenteritis given the blood in stools? How is he being treated so far?

Good luck with tests tomorrow.

Re: poor Toby :'(

Poor baby, fingers crossed here to for a good result, don't know what perhaps something he's eaten or the like that's upset his tum, has he had any Metacam or Rimadyl pain relief? as that can cause bleeding in the stomach. hopefully it isn't a tumour and if it is it's benign (non cancerous) keep your chin up and try to be strong for Toby's sake.

((((Hugs)))) from here to both of you. xx
