An offally important question..

(sorry, couldnt resist the bad punnage!!).
I know dogs have to have some liver if you are raw feeding but how important is it that they have other types of offal??
Just wondering if I need to go out and buy some kidneys pronto or risk nutritionally deficient doggies!

I think it's more about a balance than essential. Liver if I understand correctly is limited because of the Vit A, which is not good for dogs in quantity. There are vits etc that are in offal that will help give an overall balanced diet. I am sure someone will be on later that could be more technical than me. I am lucky as I have a butcher that makes up a mixture of offal ie lungs, pancreas into roll, about 1kg in weight for £1 and I give my dogs that, I also give them kidney. Offal also adds another option of meal choices, and usually quite cheap.

Re: An offally important question..

There are no vitamins or minerals which are in offal which are not available elsewhere in the diet, so I would not fret.
