Possible causes for Diarrhoea?

Bella is fine in herself - happy, playful, great appetite, no signs of being tired etc.
Yesterday morning she produced a normal poo, but had diarrhoea in the afternoon.
Today she was fine when she pood this morning - all normal. But she asked to go out again around lunchtime and had diarrhoea. Like yesterday, there was no mucous, blood etc in her diarrhoea, it was just runny.

She was wormed Mid October. We normally deworm her every 4 months.

She had gastro (as diagnosed by the vet) a couple of weeks ago, and was treated with a course of antibiotics. She was acting unwell then. NOw she is completely fine in herself.

So... to get to the point! Is it possible she may have worms which are causing this intermittent diarrhoea? Or is there possibly something more sinister? She had full bloodwork done end of November and all results were normal.

She has had no changes in her diet (switched over to Acana from Royal Canin a little under 2 months ago)

All guess work but, I would worm and also be aware that the gastroenteritis could be flaring up again
Have you walked her in the same spot both mornings?

Re: Possible causes for Diarrhoea?

No we didn't walk in the same area at all. Yesterday we stayed in the neighbourhood and this morning we did the park (by car).

Think I will give her lamb and rice tonight, get her to the vet for the worming pill tomorrow (and just so he can have a feel around)... and see how it goes from there.

Thanks for replying

Re: Possible causes for Diarrhoea?

My guess would be the flare up of gastro again, probably wasn't quite knocked on the head last time.
When Muddy has a flare up, his first of the day is usually fairly solid then deteriorates from there

Oh.

Do you think she will need ABs again? I'm really not too keen to give her medicine if not necessary, especially antibiotics.

Don't know, she may shake it off herself.

I just wanted to know how hard to argue my case against the vet if he suggests ABs again, as I do usually convince him - but wouldn't want to do so if this is detrimental to Bella.

Re: Possible causes for Diarrhoea?

I'm the wrong one to talk to about simple upset tums. I'm a bit paranoid about them.

How badly upset is her tum?

She isn't lying down in hunched up positions etc (so is showing no signs of pain at all). She settles down immediately, but when it comes to being active: playing, walking etc is very lively. SHe has a great appetite. So there are no symptoms at all apart from her second poo a day being runny. Im confused

Re: Possible causes for Diarrhoea?

Went to the vet this morning.

He prefers to just wait and see how she goes without giving her any medicine, as she is fine in herself and has no temperature. She is on a bland diet for a few days and then we will reassess.

She pood this morning - it was not diarrhoea but definitely not normal either.
