Do you not need to feed for what weight you want them to be? so if you think the sheepdog will be perfect at 40kg's he will need between 800-1200g per day

I think I meant 800g lol. I stopped weighing as I broke the scales but I have started weighing again when they were getting lean so I think I might stick with weighing food for a bit longer. Mine typically get a 2-3kg meal about once a week and a half from pig head, whole plucks, 1 or 2 pheasants/ ducks/ or some fish days they have about two whole trout each.

Ahhhhhhhh so probs over the week it averages out to more- dread to think what Dex would do with a whole pigs head- except maybe bury it down the back of the sofa!!

Re: Big dogs raw menus 40kg +

The girls weigh in around the 35-40 kilo mark and get 1lb a day and the boys weigh around 55-60 kilos each and get 2 1/2 lb a day. They get, off the top of my head -

tripe
minced chicken
minced beef
minced beef and tripe
beef chunks
liver/heart
chicken wings
chicken carcasses and other birds
raw meaty bones.

Re: Big dogs raw menus 40kg +

I don't actually weigh my food, never have but go by the look and feel of the dogs. As long as I can just about feel the Mals ribs I know their feeding is okay - difficult to feel Mals ribs as they have a woolly undercoat.

Here is roughly what I give Kali at 43kgs, the boys are 57kgs so get a little more!

Day.
1) AM. 1/2lb chick mince, 1/4 liver - raw veg (carrot, mange tout, sweetcorn, swede etc.)
PM. 2 pigs tails (or chicken necks)- bowl goats milk with 1 raw egg yolk.

2) AM. meaty lamb bone around 1lb in weight.
PM. 1/2lb lamb+tripe mince - 1/4lb heart&kidney - raw veg.

3) AM. 1/2lb tripe mince - 1/4lb liver - mixed raw veg.
PM. 4 chicken wings - 1 whole raw carrot - small bowl goats milk, no egg.

4) AM. 1/2lb beef chunks - 1/4lb heart&kidney - tin sardines in tom sauce (mine like tom sauce ones)
PM. 2 pigs tails (or chicken necks) - mange tout - carrot - sweetcorn nibblets.

5) AM. 3/4lb rabbit mince - tin sardines - mixed raw veg.
PM. 2 chicken carcasses - small bowl goats milk+ 1 egg yolk.

6) AM. 1/2lb venison mince - 1/4lb heart - mixed raw veg.
PM. 4 chicken wings - 1 whole raw carrot.

7) AM. "Sunday special lunch"
1/4lb chicken mince - 1/4lb kidney - 1/4lb heart - portion of lamb breast (around 8 ozs) 1 chicken wing - mixed veg.
PM. 2 chicken wings - 1 carrot small bowl goats milk, no egg.
pogo likes this.
