Help! little 6moth old shih tzu is poorly again

continuing on my last thread about my pup... he has been violently sick throughout the night, he also had diahorrea with this, he has drank and he has eaten a little bit of rice and chicken that we made blended up because of the condition he has. (pyloric stenosis)

vets rang back and said tonight if he gets any worse bring him in tomorrow morning plus continue with his medication- Emeprid. I feel that this maybe a little too late, i am going to take him for a walk later on with my other dog and see how he goes

can anyone help me as I am beginning to think is he going to have a normal quality of life.

As I mentioned before if you seem to be getting nowhere and/are deeply concerned, and also as I understand he is insured too, you are well within your rights to ask for a refferal to a gastirc specialist, who would deal with this sort of thing on a really regular basis.

I believe you are in Liverpool? You have University of Liverpool small animal teaching hospital there too see link

There must also be other Gastric/digestive veterinary specialists. If he were mine I certainly wouldnt be wasting time at a GP vets. If you are worried about cover as I said before you can contact your insurance and get pre-authorisation and confirmation they will accept before you go even.

I second this hun, once green lane have him stable, ask to have him referred to fern grove, it's dragging on too long now - there's no waiting and seeing about it, get him referred!!!

Your poor pup. I really do feel for him. He must be feeling awful and I can understand that. As SDH has said, I think your dog would be better off seeing a gastro specialist, who specialise in these types of conditions, as your vet will not have the specialised knowledge to properly treat this condition. I see a gastroenterologist as I have a digestive disorder (Idiopathic gastroparesis) that used to make me vomit all the time, I lost 3 stone in weight, was badly underweight and suffered malnutrition and felt terribly ill but it is now under control ish with medication. My GP does not know jack about the condition and even told me I didn’t need my medication anymore, until I said "well unless my stomach has made a miraculous recovery (there is no cure for gastroparesis), then yes I do need them and I'll be speaking to my gastro specialist about this, he soon changed his tune."

I really hope you can get this condition under control.
