It is extremely dangerous. You can buy dog chocolate drops anyway if you really need to.

Just wondering why chocolate doesnt effect all dogs, my springer managed to get a box of chocolates of the table how he got it i dont no, we came home to the empty box on the floor, it was a full box so there would have been a lot of chocolate consumed, it made no fifference to him at all.

Re: How much chocolate is dangerouos - useful information

It depends on the type of choc as well as amount the highr the cocoa solids the less u need...the darker the choc the more toxic it would b.
Also a box of chocs...lots will be coated fondents etc so not likely to be fatal. there used to be a saying....it takes a yorkie to kill a yorkie so thats a lot of milk choc for a little dog, wouldnt like to test the theory tho!
Death by chocolate! Sounds like the way to go 4 me

Completely agree..it is dangerous. It can cause heart disease as far as I'm aware..a dog gaining weight is the least of your worries!

Re: How much chocolate is dangerouos - useful information

Many years ago at christmas I left my collie while I popped to the shops, while I was gone he somehow managed to open a tin of chocolates that were wrapped up under the christmas tree he then unwrapped each and every chocolate and by the time I arrived home he had eaten the lot, all that was left was a mountain of wrappers, thankfully he didn't suffer any side effects at all and I learnt that chocolate no matter what container they are in have to be hidden some place in the house that he can't find them.

Some dogs can sniff out drugs some can sniff out mines some can even sniff out illness my dog would be the champion chocolate sniffer

In my own view, too much of everything is bad so chocolate intake by pet should be reduced.

Re: How much chocolate is dangerouos - useful information

I think it just depends on the chocolate brand...or maybe some of the ingredients present in those choco bars..therefore we have to be extra careful watching what our dogs are munching...
