How do you treat a sick dog?

My dog had a litter of 6. 2 weeks ago. and there is 1 really small puppy. He has always bin small.for the first 1and half weeks he was eating fine and progressing normally. Now he won't eat and constantly crying. His tummy looks a bit blue/purplish compared to other pups. All the rest of the puppy eyes are open except his. It kinda looks like on the right side under they eye is swollen. Is this an eye infection? his nsoe looks dry. almost like its peeling.
ANY information or anything would be greatly appreciated.

When you are at the vets obtain a large gauge syringe (just the plastic part you do not need the needle) and use this for feeding.

Slow delivery of the liquid food, with a large enough gauge you can pass small lumps of food as well as pure liquid.

If you make the feed about body temperature it will smell "right" and offer the best chance of being accepted by the pup. Rest in a mug of hot water for a while for example.

The runt of any litter will suffer at the hands of the litter mates and not get enough milk - and the milk he does get will be from one of the poorer quality teats.

Feed goat milk, maybe a little real cream mixed in and wean with pilchards for example, can blend with the goat milk.

Hope the blue/purple is just lack of food and not a torsion/twist.

Vet time. Take blankets keep the pup warm.

Luke warm hot-water bottle for the journey out then a second hot hot-water bottle (cooled down) for the journey back?

Re: How do you treat a sick dog?

You really need to take the puppy to the vets,
And if you do attempt feeding with a syringe make sure you know how to do it properly .

Re: How do you treat a sick dog?

Please don't try to treat this pup yourself. It needs to see a vet asap

My Huge apologies if it's not. And just in case VETS. NOW.

But looking at the name of the poster and the content. This screams troll at me. Anyone would know the pup needed a vet. It seems they're after a reaction.

I don't know about troll, but anyone who breeds a litter should at least have the sense to know how to treat a sick dog, or know to take it to a vets. Perhaps another one who bred for a quick turnover before christmas but doesn't have money for vet fees?
