Cancer treatment - Has anyone tried the Budwig Diet?

My dog has just had a mass cell tumor removed and I was searcing the internet for a diet that might help to prevent it coming back.

I have come across one called the Budwig Diet that uses cottage cheese and flax seed oil. Has anyone tried this or has any advice on diets.

Thanks

She is twelve. They said it was benign but i know that there is a strong chance it could come back.
She also had another tumor removed recently, not a mass cell that was benign.
She isn't on any treatment but I am unsure what I should feed her or give nutritional supplement wise that might help.

It would be a good idea to get the highest quality, most natural, least processed diet for her. There are lists of excellent wet and dry food in this section.

Since the death of my dog from spinal and stomach cancer, I switched to raw food. It's not for everyone and given her age, I dunno if she'd take to it. There are lots of excellent ready made foods out there: do check the lists.

Re: Cancer treatment - Has anyone tried the Budwig Diet?

My understanding is that cancer cells feed on carbohydrates. Given that dogs do not need carbohydrates (Association of American Feed Control Officials’ nutrient profiles) and that most grain based food is high in carbohydrates I would certainly try to find a low carbohydrate alternative. I have heard raw feeding is good for dogs with cancer (although not necessarily good to change in middle of chemo) as is home cooked food. As a raw feeder myself I would certainly recommend you look into this feeding method further. I personally do not believe home cooked food is as good but as always, it's opinion.

Just found the following links which may be of interest as it provides the same info as above with examples Cancer Diet | B-Naturals.Com Newsletter and Nutrition and Cancer

Wish both you and your dog all the best.
