My puppy lurves chicken a bit too much!

Joking title but actually a bit concerned. Lucy is 15 weeks. I switched her and Maisie to raw nearly 4 weeks ago. I'm worried that Lucy only seems to like chicken wings. I have tried various minces, lamb, kidney, liver, beef and various bones. Nothing makes her tummy jippy and she seems to get on with pork but unless it's chicken wings or pork bones I have to feed her by hand. With an older dog I would just let her go hungry until she ate but she's still so young and I'm getting worried about balancing her diet.

I can't go back to dog food. When Maisie is fussy I mix it with WW and she's fine but Lucy turns her nose up at the very hint of dog food.

I should add I have tried varying degrees of cooked which she is more interested in but I still have to hand feed her.

How can I keep her on raw but get a more varied diet in her? Surely 2/3 chicken cannot be good for a growing pup?

Re: My puppy lurves chicken a bit too much!

Hi there,

Im new to raw, (2 months), my dog is a little fussy too, but I have picked a few tips up from here.

Chio only really likes chicken and lamb, one of the forum members on here suggested freezing small amounts of other meats in icecube trays and just mixing a little bit in with something else that they do like.

I have been doing this for a couple of weeks now and it seems to be going well.

Chio wont touch rabbit on its own, but this morning I have mixed some in with his sardines and he wolfed it down. He has suddenly decided he will eat duck too, so I think its a case of just keep trying things again and again as you go along. I have had the rabbit in the freezer since I started him on raw, I was planning on it being his second lot of protein but it didnt work out....lol.

I have also mixed some meats with goats yoghurt or raw egg which seems to work too. Dont worry, you just have to be a smarty pants.
