Re: Weimaraner collapsed
Have they checked blood sugar? The blood tests may not have included a blood sugar test.
My dog kept collapsing; the first vet i took her to did blood tests but didn't check blood sugar. She incorrectly diagnosed hypovolemia. A month later a second, more experienced vet immediately discovered her blood sugar was very low. |

Re: Weimaraner collapsed
Have never seen nor know nothing of it BUT I have heard of dogs 'fainting' whether this is indeed true of if there is more to it I do not know.
Hope all goes well with the referal

Re: Weimaraner collapsed
There's a condition with Labradors called 'Exercise Induced Collapse', EIC, where the trigger is *thought* to be adrenalin/excitement, and this triggers a collapsing episode. There are a number of other similar conditions so the diagnosis can be a bit of a tricky one. The University of Minnesota have fairly comprehensive information on their website if you google them.

Re: Weimaraner collapsed
having got a dog with EIC that has been diagnosed it doesnt sound like that as there doesnt appear to be a trigger and EIC has to have a trigger like you say normally excitement and exercise.
Also a precursor to this is normally is their gait start to looks very strange and then they go down on their side, completely with it but arent able to get up for about 20 mins or so and then its like nothing has ever happened. |
